Unpopular Opinion - Johnny Depp Was a Better Grindelwald Than Mads Mikkelsen

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing good. Guess everyone already watched the new fantastic beasts movie - Fantastic Beasts and The Secret of Dumbledore. I did also a few days ago. After watching that, I ended up here - Johnny Depp was a better Grindelwald than Mads Mikkelsen Grindelwald.

Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald

While watching the movie, I enjoyed in a way. Because I like all those characters and all the history these guys have. I am also a huge Harry Potter fan, and watched all those movies from childhood to adult. Now as long as these guys like Dumbledore or Newt Schamander or Lita Lestrange or Abreforth or Grindelwald coming on the screen, I like it. I think I can watch a whole movie if they are talking in a round table for 2 or 3 hours about their past, am gonna watch it with real excitement.

But let's not get out of the track. There are people who likes them more than I do. And if you are using these legendary guys in a movie, then story must need to be a strong one. Apart from all the love I have, the movie felt like something always missing. Probably the charisma Johnny Depp has as Grindelwald?

I am not going to spoil the movie here. But imagine those scenes as Johnny Depp, Imagine it the first time you saw Grindelwald in the movie. I'd really love to see how Johnny Depp perform it. From the other two movies, specially the Crimes of Grindelwald, I am sure Johnny would have done a really good job.

Sad part is because of what Johnny is going through with his personal life, with Amber heard, they have to recast some one as Grindelwald and ended up with Mads Mikkelson. A really really great actor. But probably because of short time they had, for me it felt like the movie made in a hurry. Mr. Mikkelsen is really good, but never felt like he has the charisma like Johnny had as Grindelwald.

Probably, He didn't have the time to learn more about the character and get into it. He just played a plain villain, just like he did in other films, like in James Bond. But he looked good in James Bond than this one.

The movie is definitely enjoyable in the cinema hall as it has some really cool scenes. But apart from that, it's kind of average, or maybe less than average. What do you think?

Thanks for reading my blog.
